Emily Irene VanCamp, who initially wanted to become a professional dancer, became attracted to acting when she hung out with her sister Katie at the Ladies Room set. In parallel to learning to act she was also offered an appearance on a TV show in Canada. Her appearances have been in a number of series, such as Are You Scared of the Dark? Radio Active and Dice. VanCamp's career took off after being cast as Sam Dolan, a regular in the series WB Horror Mystery Glory Days. The show was cancelled after just nine episodes, despite getting positive reviews. On May 12, 1986, the actress quickly secured another part in Everwood. Her character Amy Abbott is one of the major characters. This role led to her being nominated as the Young Artist Award nominee and for four Teen Choice Awards.
